Military forces stationed in Yoneson Gyi village, Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region, have sexually assaulted three local women and burned down more than ten houses, according to local residents. The military column entered the village from Mahlaing Township around 1 PM on September 10th and proceeded to place villagers under house arrest. The troops sexually assaulted three women, including one who was found in a bomb shelter and another who was delivering food while her husband was being interrogated by the soldiers.
During the period of house arrest, the military threatened to burn down houses if residents left their homes and confiscated their mobile phones. The military column was reportedly in the area to repair damaged power lines near the railway crossing between Yoneson Gyi and Thaung Tha, with over seventy Electric Power Corporation employees accompanying the troops. The military forces have engaged in a series of destructive acts, burning civilian homes in the North Quarter of Yoneson Gyi village around 11 AM on September 11th, followed by more house burnings in Nibbuta Quarter around 10 AM on September 12th.
On the morning of September 14th, the military forces also burned down the checkpoint at Pan Paung intersection. Currently, the military column has positioned 120mm heavy weapons in Yoneson Gyi village and has been conducting daily artillery strikes toward the northwest. The situation continues to deteriorate as the military maintains its presence in the area, causing significant destruction to civilian property and committing serious human rights violations against the local population.
