A military convoy retreating along the Myeik-Dawei Union Highway in Tanintharyi Region was attacked by resistance forces, resulting in the death of four military council soldiers, according to a responsible official from the Dawei District Combined Forces. The attack occurred on September 7 at approximately 8:30 AM when resistance forces targeted a military convoy of over 100 personnel that was withdrawing along Union Highway No. 8 on the Myeik-Dawei road section.
The military convoy was traveling from Shwegu Mountain checkpoint toward Yaychaung town when it was attacked in the mountainous section between Nyaungzin village and Yantaung village. The convoy consisted of four Ansatun trucks, one flatbed truck, and one Vigo pickup truck. The resistance forces specifically targeted the last vehicle in the convoy because the military was using civilian hostages as human shields in the front vehicles. The attack struck a Vigo pickup carrying 12 soldiers, resulting in four deaths and three injuries among the military personnel.
Following the attack, military council forces raided Yinkyun village and Yantaung village, where they burned down more than 30 houses in Yantaung village and 8 houses in Yinkyun village. They also arrested more than 20 local civilians, according to local residents. The attack was jointly carried out by the Dawei District Combined Forces and the Daung Nyi Naung Column, with resistance forces successfully withdrawing without any casualties, as confirmed by the official from the combined forces.
