The terrorist military council conducted airstrikes on Nyaung Kon village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, resulting in damage to buildings according to local residents. On September 11, around 1 PM, despite there being no active fighting in the area, the military council carried out two bombing runs using a fighter jet. The attacks damaged two old hospital buildings and electrical power lines, though fortunately no civilians were injured in the incident.
Additionally, the military council conducted airstrikes on forested areas near Thari Chaung near Kyauktaw town in Rakhine State. Local residents confirmed that on September 10, around 11 PM, the military forces dropped at least five bombs on the area. No civilian casualties were reported from these attacks. These incidents represent a continuing pattern of the military council’s use of airpower against civilian areas, even in the absence of active conflict.
Previously, on August 25 in Rakhine State, the military council had bombed a house where a donation ceremony was being held in Dain Gyi ward of Mrauk-U town, using 500-pound bombs. That attack resulted in the deaths of 15 civilians, including children, women, and elderly people, while 17 others were injured. Human rights observers note that such brutal aerial attacks by the military council against civilian targets constitute violations of international humanitarian law and could be classified as war crimes. These attacks demonstrate the military council’s ongoing use of disproportionate force against civilian populations, causing destruction of infrastructure and threatening civilian lives across multiple regions of Myanmar.
