On September 8, heavy exchanges of artillery, drones, and small arms fire occurred between the military council forces and combined forces of KIA and KPDF near Mawtaung village in Hpakant Township. Similarly, fierce battles took place around Nyaungpinkone area from 4 PM on September 7 until 2 AM the following morning.
In the detailed battle report, the military council launched attacks from their base at Taymakun, using heavy artillery and drones, firing over 100 artillery rounds. On the morning of September 7, as military council forces advanced from Taymakun toward Mawtaung and Sankywe areas, continuous fighting erupted. The battles continued in the Nyaungpinkone area from September 6 to 7, with artillery exchanges occurring around Mawtaung village on September 8. Military council forces suffered significant casualties during these engagements.
Additionally, fighting remains intense in Banmaw, where KIA-allied forces successfully repelled military council troops attempting to approach KIA-controlled Armored Battalion 7006. The engagement resulted in significant military council casualties, with resistance forces capturing two heavy machine guns and ammunition, along with recovering multiple military council soldier bodies. The battle for Banmaw, which began in December 2024, has now continued for nearly ten months with sustained intensity between both sides, according to KIA sources. The military council continues to conduct regular airstrikes in the area, while ground battles persist with significant losses on the military council side.
