A representative from the Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3801 has confirmed that military council forces stationed at the Magyibin Gate of Taungnyo Dam in Nattalin Township, Bago Region, have abandoned their post, leading to the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment by revolutionary forces. The incident occurred around 1 AM on September 5, when more than 20 military council troops fled their position, allowing revolutionary forces to conduct a clearing operation of the area. The Magyibin Gate had been a military council stronghold for several years and was frequently the site of clashes between revolutionary forces and military council troops.
During the clearing operation, revolutionary forces recovered significant quantities of ammunition, landmines, 11 sacks of rice, 2 sacks of beans, and various military equipment. The operation was led by the Deputy Commander of Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3801, with the participation of companies 2, 4, and 6. It was noted that the military council typically increased their troop strength to around 40 personnel during periods of conflict at this position. The clearing operation revealed the extent of military resources that had been maintained at the outpost.
This is not an isolated incident of military council forces abandoning their positions. On September 1, a similar event occurred when all soldiers fled from the Taunginn military camp in Mawlaik Township, allowing revolutionary forces to capture the base without firing a single shot. These incidents are being interpreted by revolutionary forces as indicators of both their growing military capabilities and the declining morale among military council troops. The pattern of abandonment of military positions represents a significant shift in the territorial control dynamics in these regions.
