Karen military sources based in Lay Kay Kaw have confirmed that the military council forces conducted a drone strike on Lay Kay Kaw Public Hospital in Myawaddy Township, Karen State. The attack occurred around midnight on September 5th, using kamikaze suicide drones. While the hospital building sustained damage from the attack, there were no civilian casualties reported as no patients were present in the facility at the time of the strike.
Currently, the military council is conducting major offensive operations towards the Asia Highway and Thangyannainug areas with large forces, causing some revolutionary forces to retreat from their positions. The military council continues to launch attacks using suicide drones, heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and airstrikes. According to Karen military sources, their objectives include regaining control of the Asia Highway in Myawaddy Township, capturing the Thangyannainug area, and establishing routes for military reinforcements to reach Myawaddy town.
Additionally, on the morning of September 4th, the military council forces also conducted drone strikes on an old hospital building in Kyaukat village, located in DKBA-controlled territory south of Myawaddy Township. While the building was damaged in the attack, there were no casualties as the facility was no longer being used for medical treatment. These deliberate attacks on civilian medical facilities by the military council have severely impacted the local population’s access to healthcare services. The military council’s targeting of public health infrastructure demonstrates their disregard for civilian welfare and continues to compromise the basic human right to medical care in conflict-affected areas.
