The New Mon State Party – Anti-Dictatorship/Ramanya Mon Army (NMSP-AD/RMA) has announced that they will oppose and resist the military council’s sham election through various means and completely reject the holding of the election. The terrorist military council reorganized itself as the State Security and Peace Commission (Military Commission) on July 31, 2025, and announced that elections would be held on December 28, 2025. According to the NMSP-AD/RMA statement, this election is merely a fake election intended to help the military council overcome its current political and military crises and gain international recognition.
The military council’s election aims to revive the 2008 Constitution and legitimize the military dictatorship, prolong military slavery, and will only intensify conflicts within the country. The NMSP-AD/RMA has declared that any political parties and individuals participating in this election will be considered as entities/persons working to revive the 2008 Constitution and extend the life of the military dictatorship. The NMSP-AD/RMA has explicitly stated that they will resist and oppose the Military Commission’s sham election through various means and completely reject the holding of elections in their controlled areas and areas of operation.
Naing Kaung Sakar from the New Mon State Party – Anti-Dictatorship/Ramanya Mon Army stated that while the military dictators may view this election as their escape route, it is nothing but a trap for the entire population. He emphasized that to avoid falling into this trap, all people, especially the Mon people in Mon State, must oppose it. He views this as a battle that must be fought with full force for political conviction. The NMSP-AD/RMA has also urged all Mon people not to participate in the Military Commission’s sham election that would prolong military slavery, and called on Mon political parties not to place hope in this fake election but to join with all Mon people in opposing it.
