The resistance forces launched rocket attacks on Light Infantry Battalion 13 in Chauk town and Infantry Battalion 416 in Salay Township of Magway Region, resulting in at least 15 military casualties, according to a spokesperson from the Thein Nget Nauk Seikphyu Revolutionary Front, a drone unit of the Magway Region People’s Defense Force. The attacks occurred around 9:45 PM on September 4th, with resistance forces firing a total of 15 rockets. During the offensive, seven rockets struck Light Infantry Battalion 13, while eight rockets hit Infantry Battalion 416, causing confirmed deaths of more than 15 soldiers. Additionally, two vehicles returning after delivering supplies from Pauk Township to Light Infantry Battalion 13 were also damaged in the attack.
The attacks resulted in approximately 30 military personnel being injured. Infantry Battalion 416 is known to have around 100 personnel, while Light Infantry Battalion 13 maintains a larger force and conducts military training, including forced training of civilians who have been conscripted as porters. The effectiveness of the attack was evident as military council forces only began conducting patrols in Chauk town and along the Ayeyarwady River more than three hours after the incident. This delayed response indicates the significant impact of the coordinated assault on the military installations.
The operation was jointly carried out by Team 1 of the Magway Region PDF Drone Unit, the Thein Nget Nauk Seikphyu Revolutionary Front, and the Chauk Thakin Phoe Hla Gyi Force. The revolutionary forces have issued warnings to civilians to avoid areas associated with the military council’s election activities, including election commission offices, noting the potential risks of being in these locations. They have also emphasized that unavoidable presence in these areas could result in casualties. Furthermore, the resistance groups have called on the public to continue supporting organizations actively participating in revolutionary activities against the military council.
