Revolutionary forces have successfully captured the Taungin military camp in Mawlaik Township, Sagaing Region, without firing a single shot, according to local resistance sources. Following the capture of the Thaw Thar Pyu camp in Mawlaik Township on August 15, revolutionary forces had surrounded the Taungin military camp, leaving only one exit route. As a result of this encirclement, all soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members stationed at the camp fled during the night of September 1.
According to sources, the fleeing soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members likely used one of three possible escape routes. The first route leads to Kyin Tup village through the Aw village group and Narpin village group area. The second route leads to the Laung Kaung military camp through the creek head area of Taung Win village. The third route goes through Taung Win village, Nyaung Thapyay village, and Nyaung Won village’s strategic junction, crossing the Chindwin River to potentially join Infantry Battalions 364, 365, and 366 in Mawlaik town.
Local resistance sources assess that the fleeing forces most likely used the third route due to its shorter distance and accessible road conditions. Previously, on August 15, revolutionary forces had also successfully attacked and captured the Thaw Thar village camp, which was led by Pyu Saw Htee leader Eh Pan, resulting in the capture of 190 people including Eh Pan and his family members. This series of successful operations demonstrates the growing strength of resistance forces in the Mawlaik area and their ability to conduct effective military operations against regime forces and their allied militia groups.
