
Military forces have conducted continuous attacks using aircraft and tanks on villages in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State, resulting in the death of a 6-year-old displaced child and injuries to four other civilians. The military has been carrying out sustained attacks on villages in Waingmaw Township from August 27 to September 1, using both aircraft and tanks. During these attacks, on August 31, when the military conducted an airstrike on Nam Wa village, a 6-year-old girl named Gaung Naw was killed instantly while returning to her home from an IDP camp.
In the same attack, three other civilians were injured: 25-year-old Ma Zay Ngwae, 15-year-old Ma Zay Yan, and 36-year-old U Tain Bawm. According to local residents, the military’s airstrikes on Lamyan village and Nam Wa village resulted in casualties among innocent civilians who were traveling on the roads. The military continued their bombing campaign on villages in Waingmaw Township on September 1, beginning around 10 AM.
According to local sources, residents have been forced to flee their homes to safer locations due to the military’s airstrikes. They are facing significant challenges related to basic necessities and livelihood after abandoning their homes. The military’s aerial attacks have also caused extensive damage to residential buildings and infrastructure, creating an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among the local population. The continuous nature of these attacks has severely disrupted civilian life in the area, with many residents unable to return to their normal daily activities due to the ongoing threat of military violence.
