The Chin State Council has issued a statement firmly opposing the sham election planned by the terrorist military council in Chin State, declaring that anyone participating in the election will be considered a traitor to the people and face severe consequences. This decision was made during the fifth meeting of the first term of the Chin State Council held in Chin Lan from August 27 to 29. The meeting was attended by 81 participants, including elected representatives from the 2020 election, members of the Chin National Front, and representatives and observers from various townships and regions.
The council strongly condemned the terrorist military council’s preparations for a sham election intended to extend the military dictatorship. Additionally, the council has designated drug trafficking, production, transportation, possession, use, and cultivation within Chin State as national security threats. They announced plans to combat these issues in accordance with the Chin State Council’s policy on prevention and elimination of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The council emphasized their commitment to addressing these challenges through strict enforcement measures.
The Chin State Council also addressed the ongoing conflicts, hatred, and divisions between different groups within Chin State. They announced plans to work towards reconciliation and unity by adhering to Chin national values and involving religious leaders and influential individuals in the peace process. The council strongly objected to the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA)’s announcement on August 11, 2025, which declared Paletwa Township as one of their districts. The statement also emphasized the council’s commitment to protecting the fundamental rights of the Chin people, including access to education, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance, pledging to continue their efforts to ensure these rights are not compromised.
