
A soldier and three military conscripts who fled from the terrorist military forces conducting operations in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, have been captured alive, according to Special Region Strategy 33 Operation Commander Comrade Saw Dar Ko. The captures took place on August 25th and 26th in the frontline area near Kaut Hlaing village, Myamyaung village, Mile 60 village, and Thayamon village in Yebyu Township where the terrorist military forces were conducting operations. The three newly conscripted soldiers were identified as Private Nan Ko Ko, Private Naing Lin Aung, and Yan Naing Min (aka) Chit San Maung from Conscription Batch 8, while the fourth was identified as Private Zeyar Win (aka) Kyaw Win from Infantry Battalion 405.
According to statements from the captured new conscripts, they were forcibly conscripted under the illegal military service law and had only received about two and a half months of military training before being sent to the frontline, where they took the opportunity to escape and seek refuge. They reported that superior officers in the terrorist military forced them to commit unlawful acts, including ordering them to fight on the frontlines with unreasonable commands, breaking into and looting civilian homes in villages, and arresting, torturing and killing civilians. The terrorist military has been committing artillery attacks on villages and unlawful arrests and killings through Infantry Battalions 282, 407, 408, 409, 410, and 273, under the direction of Major Soe Moe Kyaw, Captain Kyaw Myoe Khaing, Captain Win Min Soe, Captain Ah Phon Kyaw, Captain Arkar Soe, and Major Kyaw San Htun.
The operation involved coordination between Special Strategy 33 Special Operations Group, Dauna Column-2 (YGF), Dauna Column-3 (KBDF), Mon State Revolution Force (MSRF), Ye Bilu Battalion, Ramanya Mon Army (R.M.A), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Military Division (6) Battalion (27), and Star Light (Thakapaw) Battalion. The captured soldiers are being handled in accordance with NUG’s Prisoners of War laws as they were captured within an active operation area. Additional soldiers who attempted to flee were recaptured by the military while some remain hiding in the forest, according to reports from those who successfully escaped. The escapees came from various regions including Bago and Yangon areas.
