On the morning of August 29, members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) carried out a mine attack against Military Council troops who were patrolling in Ye-U town, Sagaing Region, resulting in casualties among the military forces. According to a PDF official from Ye-U Township, around 8 AM, approximately 10 military council soldiers who were conducting patrol operations towards the north of Ye-U town were targeted with a mine attack near the town’s entrance sign.
While the attack resulted in casualties among the military council forces, the exact number of casualties could not be immediately confirmed. The PDF forces were able to safely withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties. Following the attack, military council troops responded with small arms fire and subsequently increased security measures at checkpoints around the town’s entry and exit points, conducting thorough inspections of civilians.
The PDF commander of Ye-U Township stated that while there were likely casualties among the military council forces, they could not release specific details as they were still awaiting confirmed information. He added that after the attack, the military council forces had responded by firing indiscriminately with small arms. The military has since heightened security measures in the area, particularly focusing on civilian movement through various checkpoints established around the town.
