The Chin Defense Force (CDF-Mindat) has announced that local civilians continue to discover and turn in weapons and ammunition that were buried by military council forces while fleeing during the battle for Mindat town in Chin State. On August 29, responsible citizens handed over three MA1 rifles, six 40mm grenades, and other military equipment to the CDF-Mindat headquarters. These weapons had been buried by military council troops who fled in disarray from Mindat town.
The CDF-Mindat headquarters has rewarded the civilians who came forward to hand over these weapons and ammunition. Previously, on August 24, civilians had also discovered and turned in military equipment that had been buried by military council soldiers, including one MA4 rifle, one MA3 rifle, one MA1 rifle, five 40mm grenades, and other related military equipment. These citizens were also rewarded for their responsible actions.
Additionally, on August 22, local residents discovered and handed over weapons that fleeing military council soldiers had buried, including one MA15 machine gun, one RPG7 heavy weapon, one MA4 rifle, one MA3 rifle, and related equipment. According to CDF-Mindat’s statement, these civilian contributions have ensured that weapons abandoned by retreating military council forces have been successfully recovered rather than being lost or falling into the wrong hands.
