
The People’s Defense Force successfully engaged military council forces in the Bago Yoma region of Paungde Township, Bago Division, resulting in one military soldier’s death and multiple injuries, according to Comrade Shay Door, the intelligence and information officer of the Pyay District People’s Defense Force Battalion 3601. The incident occurred on August 25, 2023, at approximately 9:30 AM, when about 80 military council troops from the Kyaukgyi Mountain Gate checkpoint advanced into the Bago Yoma area. The PDF Battalion 3601’s sniper team conducted two separate attacks on the advancing forces.
The initial engagement resulted in one immediate military casualty and one severe injury. As the military council forces were transporting the deceased soldier’s body and the wounded soldier back to the Kyaukgyi checkpoint on stretchers, Brigade 21’s Battalion 3601 Company 5 launched a secondary attack using four Padaytha mines between Pyan Chi Taung village and Nyaungni Pin village. This second attack resulted in severe injuries to five military personnel and minor injuries to four others. The military council forces subsequently evacuated all casualties first to the Kyaukgyi Mountain Gate checkpoint, then transferred them via vehicles to the 100-bed military hospital in Shwetaung Township.
Following the engagement, the People’s Defense Force conducted a sweep of the area and recovered various military equipment, including 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, one Inaga rifle, and various other military supplies. The People’s Defense Force reported no casualties on their side and successfully withdrew from the area after the operation. The information officer of the battalion confirmed the successful execution of the mission and the safe return of all PDF personnel involved in the operation.
