The Ramanya Mon Army (RMA) has reported that at least 10 military soldiers were killed during an ambush on a military column in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM on August 22, when resistance forces intercepted a military column consisting of approximately 100 personnel near Mile Post 59 in Yebyu Township. The engagement lasted for about one hour, resulting in at least 10 confirmed casualties on the military side. The RMA and allied forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties.
In a separate incident in Sagaing Region’s Budalin Township, resistance forces conducted a two-day offensive against a military column along the Monywa-Yay Oo road, resulting in 10 military casualties. According to Ko May Gyi, the combat operations commander of the Budalin-based Ba Gyi Aung Guerrilla Force, their units targeted a military column of about 70 personnel that had departed from Budalin town. The operations, which took place on August 26 and 27, involved both mine attacks and artillery strikes along the route. The resistance forces successfully engaged the military column without suffering any casualties themselves.
Following the engagements, the military forces retreated to Budalin town using two armored vehicles and one small vehicle. Local sources confirmed finding bloodstains at the battle sites where the mine attacks had taken place. These incidents demonstrate the increasing effectiveness of resistance forces’ military operations across the country, as they continue to challenge the military’s control in various regions. The successful coordination between different resistance groups and their ability to conduct complex operations while minimizing their own casualties highlights the growing sophistication of their tactical capabilities.
