According to local sources, four civilians were killed in an airstrike conducted by the terrorist military forces on Hpone Pin Kone village in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region. The attack, which occurred on the evening of August 27, involved a fighter jet from the Tataoo Air Base conducting four separate bombing runs between 5:16 PM and 5:19 PM, as confirmed by a representative from the Wetlet Informational Network to the Yangon Modern News Agency.
The aerial assault resulted in the deaths of three male villagers and one female villager, with at least six others sustaining injuries. Following the airstrikes, military forces based in Myittha town continued their assault by firing howitzer artillery shells at the area, forcing local residents to flee to safety. Sources confirmed that the military’s attack was deliberately targeted at the village despite there being no active fighting in the area. The systematic nature of the attack, beginning with airstrikes and followed by artillery bombardment, demonstrated a coordinated effort to target civilian areas.
The Wetlet Informational Network has issued warnings for local residents to exercise extreme caution due to the increasing frequency of such aerial attacks on civilian populations. Since the military coup, the terrorist military forces have been systematically targeting civilians, with daily casualties resulting from airstrikes and artillery attacks on residential areas. Local communities have been advised to prepare secure shelters and maintain readiness for immediate evacuation in case of aerial attacks. The ongoing military violence against civilians has created a persistent state of insecurity, forcing residents to remain vigilant and prepared for potential attacks at any time.
