Comrade Soe Gyi was captured and killed by military forces in Bhayingone village, Yetarshay Township, while transporting military supplies from the eastern to western front along with a motorcycle taxi driver on August 22. During the incident, the motorcycle taxi driver Ko Shwe Aung was also captured alive along with the military supplies and has not been released to date. The revolutionary forces had prepared security measures for the funeral ceremony since the night before, maintaining 24-hour surveillance and managing to evacuate local residents in time, which prevented any casualties from the military’s attack.
A revolutionary member from Strategy 22 stated that the funeral ceremony was successfully completed at 9 AM, and although the military council forces launched an aerial attack around noon after the ceremony had ended, there were no casualties due to their advance preparations. The military council continues to commit violent acts and war crimes against local civilians and revolutionary forces, according to statements released by revolutionary groups. The military’s ongoing campaign of violence and oppression against its own people has been consistently documented, with this latest attack on a funeral ceremony representing another example of their brutal tactics against civilians and resistance members.
