The military council forces conducted aerial attacks using aircraft and drones on villages in Budalin and Wetlet townships of Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of two civilians, multiple injuries, and the destruction of several homes by fire, according to local residents. On August 26, around 7:30 PM, military forces carried out an unprovoked airstrike near Thakut Nay village in Budalin township, dropping two bombs from aircraft despite there being no active fighting in the area.
During the aerial attack, the bombs struck a residential house and a fuel shop, causing immediate casualties with two civilians killed and several others injured. The bombing also resulted in fires that destroyed multiple homes in the area, as confirmed by local residents. According to a local witness, the military council forces deliberately conducted the airstrike without any military engagement in the area. While the death of two civilians has been confirmed, the exact number of injured persons is yet to be determined, the witness added.
Simultaneously, a similar aerial attack occurred in Wetlet township. During the afternoon of August 26, military council forces targeted a village in the western part of Wetlet township using a drone strike. This attack resulted in the destruction of one house and the death of one cow, though fortunately no civilian casualties were reported, according to a representative from the Spring Victory (Revolutionary Forces). These attacks clearly demonstrate the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations in these areas. The pattern of unprovoked attacks on civilian areas, particularly using aerial warfare capabilities, highlights the ongoing violence against civilians by military forces in the region.
