According to a statement from the Myingyan People’s Movement Committee and a representative from the Zero Guerrilla Force, the military forces have killed 26 civilians and destroyed 10 villages during their operations along the border of Myingyan and Ngatayauk Townships in Mandalay Region. The military campaign, which began in August, has shown evidence of systematic targeting of local civilians. In Myingyan Township, they killed 10 civilians, including 5 women and 5 men, from the villages of Myauk Kone, Pyawbwe, Samone Kine, Balun, and Kan Sint.
In Ngatayauk Township, 16 civilians were killed, including 10 women and 6 men from Ywa Gyi, Thu Soe, Theitaw, and Kyauk Sin villages. The military forces systematically burned down several villages including Tan Soe, Man Le, Kyauk Sin, Theitaw, Let Wae, Chin Yar, Kan Yar Shae, Let Thit Bagan, Kan Sint Taung North, and Balun villages, resulting in the destruction of numerous homes. Additionally, they deliberately destroyed civilian food supplies by dumping rice, cooking oil, and other foodstuffs into wells and water sources, and contaminating them with diesel fuel.
Currently, fighting continues between revolutionary forces and the military in these areas, with the military conducting daily airstrikes, according to the Zero Guerrilla Force representative. The military has been particularly brutal in targeting elderly civilians and children who were unable to flee, leaving bodies behind in acts described as inhumane war crimes. The ongoing military operations include heavy artillery attacks and aerial bombardment, as reported by local sources. The systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure and deliberate targeting of non-combatants has created a severe humanitarian crisis in the affected areas, with many residents forced to flee their homes while others remain trapped in the conflict zone.
