In Naung Pin village, Kyaukme Township, Shan State, ongoing clashes continue as the military forces killed six civilians trapped in the village and systematically looted civilian properties, according to revolutionary military sources and local residents. On the evening of August 23, after the military forces entered Naung Pin village, they pursued and shot at civilians who were unable to escape, using small arms, resulting in the deaths of six internally displaced persons (IDPs) and leaving many others injured.
The military forces have been systematically breaking into civilian homes and shops within Naung Pin village, looting rice bags, valuable items, gold jewelry, and all household goods. The military is reportedly forcing a resident from Ward 1 to act as a guide, using vehicles to break into homes and transport stolen goods. Additionally, military informants are present within the village, and their intelligence has led to the targeting of civilians who couldn’t escape, with soldiers actively pursuing and shooting at trapped residents.
Currently, revolutionary forces have surrounded the military troops in the Naung Pin village area, and engagement continues. The military forces continue to conduct indiscriminate artillery strikes. Previously, on August 20, the military had conducted an airstrike on Pin Tee Monastery in Pin Tee village, Kyaukme Township, resulting in the deaths of 10 IDPs and severely injuring 12 others. The Shan Students’ Union and Tai Youth organization have strongly condemned the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilians in these attacks.
