The National Unity Government (NUG) has issued an important statement on the 8th anniversary of the Rohingya genocide. The statement emphasizes that the people of Myanmar are currently fighting against the terrorist military group’s oppression from all sides, and only through the complete elimination of the terrorist military group can the Rohingya and all citizens achieve their human rights and justice. The NUG strongly condemns the brutal acts and serious crimes committed by the terrorist military group against the Rohingya people in 2017, expressing solidarity with the affected Rohingya population.
Furthermore, the NUG affirms its firm commitment to standing with the Rohingya people in their pursuit of justice. The government expresses deep concern about the hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees who remain unable to return to their homes in Myanmar and are still living in Bangladesh. The statement also addresses ongoing concerns about the continuing displacement of Rohingya people due to various circumstances. The NUG confirms that it has developed and implemented a specific Rohingya policy and continues to operate in accordance with this policy framework.
Throughout history, not only the Rohingya people but also various ethnic groups and religious communities have endured the oppression of the terrorist military. This is why the Spring Revolution is being collectively waged to liberate all people from the oppressive authoritarian system. The NUG emphasizes that it is working to its fullest capacity and stands united with the Rohingya community. This statement reaffirms the NUG’s position regarding the Rohingya issue and demonstrates its commitment to addressing historical injustices while working toward a more inclusive and democratic future for Myanmar.
