The Kalay People’s Strike Leading Committee held discussions with students and civilians alongside the Civil Education Strike Column to oppose the terrorist military council’s illegal sham election in the Kalay region. The discussions primarily focused on the military council’s attempts to hold a fraudulent election and ways to resist it. It was revealed during the talks that the military council is launching intense military operations in liberated areas to conduct the election, while planning to force people in urban areas under their control to vote at gunpoint.
The Kalay People’s Strike Leading Committee has urged people in military-controlled areas to oppose the sham election through the safest possible means. The military council is attempting to legitimize their coup through this election, which will not reflect the true will of the people. Therefore, participants discussed how the entire population needs to oppose this election through various methods. The military council’s intensifying operations in both liberated and controlled areas demonstrate their determination to hold this illegitimate election regardless of the people’s wishes.
During the discussion, participants suggested various methods to oppose the military council’s sham election, agreeing that people should prioritize their safety and use secure methods of resistance. They also encouraged people living under military oppression to maintain their revolutionary spirit and not lose hope. The committee emphasized that this is a critical moment for Myanmar’s democracy movement, and unified opposition to the military’s attempts to legitimize their rule through fraudulent elections is essential for the success of the revolution.
