The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reported that three novice monks and one civilian were injured when the military council conducted an airstrike on the Waso Monastery in Kyaukme, northern Shan State. The attack occurred at 11:15 AM on August 25 in the Pinne Kone ward of Kyaukme Township. Despite there being no active fighting in the area, the aerial bombardment resulted in injuries to novice monks and civilians, while also causing destruction to 22 houses, 4 monastery buildings, and 2 vehicles.
A local resident from Kyaukme reported that while many people in the city are displaced by the conflict, there are still those who cannot flee due to financial constraints. Although humanitarian organizations are providing assistance, the support is insufficient to meet the needs of all affected people. On the previous day, August 24, in the afternoon, the military council also conducted an airstrike using 500-pound bombs on Lon Kyem (Kyaung Kone) village in Kyaukme Township, resulting in the deaths of two civilians.
Furthermore, on August 21, the military council carried out unprovoked attacks on Kyaukme Township, dropping two 250-pound bombs and firing 11 heavy artillery shells from the air, which damaged six civilian homes. On August 20, an airstrike on the Pin Tee monastery in Pin Tee village, Kyaukme Township, resulted in the deaths of 10 internally displaced persons and left 12 others severely injured. These incidents represent a pattern of continued aerial attacks by the military council on civilian areas and religious buildings in the region, causing significant casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure.
