
A battle broke out between military council forces and revolutionary forces in Sankenwun village, Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, starting around 5 AM on August 21st. According to a responsible official from the Duraka column, more than 20 military council soldiers were killed during the 12-hour battle. The resistance forces also managed to destroy one military vehicle by setting it on fire. The battle demonstrated the growing strength of resistance forces in the region as they continue to challenge military council control.
During the battle, revolutionary forces seized various weapons and ammunition from the military council forces, including two MA-1 rifles, 12 ammunition magazines, five Inaga bombs, five hand grenades, and other related materials. The military council employed surveillance drones for reconnaissance and launched airstrikes using K-8W fighter aircraft during the confrontation. The battle involved coordinated efforts from multiple resistance groups, including the Dawei Nationalities Liberation Army (DNLA), Dawei People’s Liberation Force (TPLF), Edin Myu, Kyar Thit Kat, B-Long Guerrilla Force, Dauna Column 7, and Dawei Eastern Forest Force (DEF). One resistance fighter from the Dawei Army was killed in action, and three others were wounded during the engagement. Currently, military council forces remain stalled in Sankenwun village, unable to advance further according to resistance forces.
