
A spokesperson from the 5th Battalion of Mandalay District has confirmed that military council forces suffered casualties in a clash that occurred on August 21 in Myingyan Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region. People’s Defense Forces attacked military soldiers, police, and Pyu Saw Htee members who were traveling from Sone Village outpost toward Ngan Myar Gyi police outpost, resulting in 14 casualties and the seizure of weapons.
The clash occurred at noon when People’s Defense Forces intercepted military council forces traveling on one motorcycle and one Thaw Lar Gyi vehicle from Sone Village outpost. Eight military personnel were killed instantly in the initial attack. During the battle, resistance forces seized three G3 rifles, one MA11 rifle, five G3 ammunition magazines, 47 G3 bullets, and one motorcycle clip. The official stated that an additional six military personnel who were wounded in the battle later died while receiving medical treatment, as confirmed on August 23.
The operation was jointly conducted by multiple resistance groups including the 5th Battalion of Mandalay District, Zamani Guerrilla Force, Northern Myingyan Guerrilla Force, Amarapura Township PDF, Aung Tan Kone Guerrilla Force, 4th and 10th Battalions of Myingyan District, Ngan Nat Guerrilla Force, and Kyar Min Guerrilla Force. The People’s Defense Forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The 5th Battalion of Myingyan District is currently in need of ammunition and bulletproof equipment, and has requested support from both domestic and international supporters of Myanmar’s resistance movement.
