A military vessel group departing from Minyaung Port in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, was attacked by revolutionary forces, resulting in damage to one military ship and the possible death of two soldiers, according to a spokesperson from the Royal Tiger Force guerrilla group. The attack, which occurred on August 22, involved two 107mm rocket launchers used by the revolutionary forces to target the convoy of military ships and boats leaving Minyaung Port. The vessel group was believed to be transporting supplies and ammunition for military operations in the region.
The attack resulted in damage to one ship’s engine and reportedly caused severe injuries to two soldiers aboard who may have died from their wounds. According to the Royal Tiger Force official, the military council regularly uses waterways for transporting supplies and extracting resources such as copper and jade. The resistance forces plan to continue targeting such military movements whenever opportunities arise. The military council heavily relies on air support, and on the day of the attack, a military paramotoring aircraft was observed flying near the Northwestern Command headquarters, presumably ready to provide air support if needed.
The Royal Tiger Force guerrilla unit successfully conducted the operation without suffering any casualties and managed to withdraw safely from the area. Such attacks are considered strategically important as they disrupt the military council’s supply routes and logistics operations via waterways. The resistance forces believe these operations effectively hamper the military’s ability to maintain its supply lines and resource extraction activities in the region. The successful attack demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military targets, particularly in the Sagaing Region where resistance activities have been increasingly active.
