
A military official from the Dawei Army has confirmed that 11 military soldiers were killed and 3 were captured as prisoners of war during battles in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region. On August 18 around noon, combined forces including DNLA and Dura Column attacked a military convoy of approximately 150 personnel near Bejmae Military Post between Sankankwin and Wakun villages in Dawei Township, as the convoy was traveling from Dawei city.
In the first engagement, 4 military soldiers were killed and 10 were wounded, with the resistance forces seizing one MA-1 rifle, two ammunition boxes, and other military equipment. The following day, on August 19 around 10 AM, a second attack was launched on the same military convoy at Sankankwin village, resulting in a seven-hour battle. During this second engagement, an additional 7 military soldiers were killed and 3 were taken as prisoners of war.
During the battles, resistance forces destroyed 10 military vehicles and captured military equipment from three vehicles, including 4 MA-1 rifles, 1 G-3 rifle, and related military supplies. One resistance fighter was killed in action during the operations. The three captured prisoners of war are being provided necessary medical treatment and are being detained safely in accordance with international standards, according to the Dawei Army official.
The successful operations were carried out through the coordinated efforts of multiple resistance groups, including the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA) Dura Column, Dawei People’s Liberation Force (TPLF), Klar Thachat, Bilone Guerrilla Force, Steel Breakthrough, Dauna Column 7, Dawei District Battalion 2, Dawei Eastern Forest Force, and Eastern Defense Force. Military analysts, including former military personnel, note that this successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of unified coordination among revolutionary forces in the region.
