The People’s Defense Force (PDF) spokesperson for Bago District, Ko Phyo Maung, has reported that revolutionary forces conducted an artillery attack on military council camps supporting Infantry Battalion 598 in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region. The attack, which took place on August 19th in the afternoon, targeted military positions on both sides of the Sittaung River – one at Hero Samein village in Waw Township and another stationed along the riverbank in Shwegyin Township.
The coordinated assault utilized six artillery pieces and successfully hit the intended targets, according to reports. These military positions have been serving as supply routes for Infantry Battalion 598, providing reinforcements, weapons, and provisions. The operation was jointly carried out by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 7, Bago District PDF, and Kawa Township PDF artillery units. All revolutionary forces were able to withdraw safely after the successful operation without any casualties.
Currently, the military council is attempting to strengthen its position at Infantry Battalion 598 in Shwegyin Township by sending additional troops and weapons, while revolutionary forces maintain effective blockades and counter-operations in the area. Additionally, the Bago District PDF is conducting a ‘One Thousand Rice Sacks, One Thousand Lakhs’ fundraising campaign to support their operational needs, having reached approximately thirty percent of their target so far. The PDF spokesperson emphasized that they continue to carry out active operations while simultaneously working on securing necessary resources and supplies through this campaign, calling for public support to reach their fundraising goals.
