
In Magway Region’s Salin Township, an unprovoked artillery attack by the military forces on Thayet Gyi village resulted in injuries to a 13-year-old child and a 30-year-old man. The incident occurred around 9:05 PM on August 15, when military forces stationed at Thone Sate camp in Shin Phyu Kyun area fired two artillery shells at the village without any ongoing conflict, also destroying one house. Ko Pyae Thu, the news coordinator for People’s Comrades Salin, confirmed these details to Yangon Modern News Agency.
Meanwhile, in Sagaing Region’s Yinmabin Township, over 8,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes due to military operations in the area. The displacement began around 4:00 AM on August 15, when military forces, claiming to be a supply convoy from the Northwestern Command (NaMaKha), entered Ban Bwe Pyu Saw Htee village and continued to raid nearby villages. As a result, residents from five villages along the Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa road have been displaced and remain in hiding. The military column’s activities have caused significant disruption to civilian life in the area.
The military forces proceeded to raid Tayawkyin village on August 16 at approximately 8:30 AM, where they reportedly looted civilian properties. Currently, while the military column has reached Ban Bwe Pyu Saw Htee village, local residents continue to remain in hiding, fearing potential return movements of the troops. According to local sources, the military’s operations have resulted in severe food shortages, forced displacement, and widespread fear among the civilian population. The situation continues to deteriorate as residents are unable to return to their homes, facing ongoing uncertainty about their safety and security in the region.
