Revolutionary forces conducted a five-day offensive against the military council troops operating in Kawkareik Township, Karen State, resulting in the death of ten soldiers and numerous injuries. The coordinated attacks took place between August 13 and August 17, when the Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) and Federal Revolution Force (FRF) jointly targeted military forces that were threatening local civilians in the area.
According to a responsible official from the FRF, the military council had deployed approximately 80 troops who had established a position in a local village. The revolutionary forces launched a systematic attack using 41 rounds of 60mm artillery. During the engagement, ten military council soldiers were confirmed killed, with many others sustaining injuries. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the operation without suffering any casualties. The military council forces have been responding with daily airstrikes, but resistance forces continue to maintain their defensive positions.
The fighting in Kawkareik Township remains intense, with the military council conducting regular aerial bombardments in the area. Local civilians have been forced to flee to safer locations due to the military’s airstrikes, and there is an increasing need for humanitarian assistance in the region. The resistance forces continue their operations to protect civilian populations from military council aggression, while maintaining strategic positions throughout the township. The successful coordination between KNDO and FRF demonstrates the growing effectiveness of revolutionary forces in their resistance against the military council’s operations in Karen State.
