
The 161st public protest was successfully held in front of San Francisco City Hall in California, United States. The demonstration was organized by the Free Burma Action Committee Northern California, with participation from Myanmar people, Spring Revolution forces, and supporting civilians. The protest was conducted under the theme ‘Crush the illegitimate election that serves as the dictator’s exit strategy, Don’t give the common enemy an escape route.’
During the protest, participants demanded an end to the military dictatorship, opposition to the military council’s illegal election, cessation of war crimes against Myanmar civilians, and the restoration of democracy and human rights. They also called for increased international support for Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy and stronger pressure and sanctions against the military regime. The protesters emphasized the importance of preventing the military council from legitimizing their rule through fraudulent elections.
Protesters carried Myanmar democracy flags, National Unity Government (NUG) flags, and flags of various ethnic armed revolutionary organizations. They peacefully demonstrated with anti-military dictatorship banners and posters. The gathering also included collective prayers for the success of the Myanmar people’s revolution. The demonstration highlighted the continued resistance of Myanmar communities abroad against the military regime and their commitment to supporting the democratic movement in Myanmar.
