The military council continues to conduct aerial attacks on areas controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region. On August 17, fighter jets from the military council conducted bombing raids on the eastern part of Mogok Township at 8:59 AM and 9:03 AM. The current casualties from these bombings remain unconfirmed, and there are ongoing concerns about potential further airstrikes in the area.
According to a local resident from Mogok, the fighter jets dropped seven bombs in succession, targeting areas near the hospital’s western side and government offices in eastern Mogok, as well as strategic hills and military quarters. While there are reports of bombings in the western part of the city, these cannot be verified yet as residents are unable to investigate due to fears of additional airstrikes. The situation remains tense as civilians continue to face the threat of further aerial attacks.
The city has experienced multiple airstrikes in recent weeks. On August 14, a military airstrike on Lin Yaung Kyi Monastery in the Golden Ward of eastern Mogok resulted in the deaths of 21 civilians, including 16 women and 5 men. Additionally, on August 9, an attack on the monastery in Kyauk Nagar village claimed the lives of 5 innocent civilians. These incidents are part of a pattern of ongoing military actions against civilian targets in the region, causing significant casualties and displacement among the local population.
