A military convoy traveling from Tanintharyi city to Myeik in Tanintharyi Region was attacked by resistance forces, according to reports from local defense force officials. The convoy was transporting soldiers who had been wounded in battles near Theinkone and Tamutchaung villages when the attack occurred on the evening of August 12. A spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force confirmed that the military suffered casualties in the attack.
The incident took place around 7:10 PM near Kanto village. Resistance forces employed both small arms fire and mine attacks in their operation. As a result of the attack, one military vehicle sustained significant damage to its rear section and became inoperable, forcing the military to tow it back to Battalion 556 using ropes. Officials reported that the damaged vehicle had to be dragged into the military compound as it could no longer be driven under its own power.
The operation was planned and executed by the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. Following the attack, all resistance fighters were able to safely withdraw from the area without casualties. This attack has been recorded as an effective response to military movements in the region. Reports indicate that resistance operations continue throughout the Tanintharyi region as part of the ongoing conflict between revolutionary forces and the military council.
