Two civilians were killed and two others were seriously injured when the military council forces fired artillery shells at Let Lan village in Pauk Township, Magway Region. According to local residents, soldiers from Military Operations Command 24 in Pauk deliberately targeted the southern part of the township with heavy weapons around 11 AM on August 16. The artillery shells landed and exploded inside the village, killing one man and one woman instantly.
Additionally, two other civilians sustained severe injuries from the attack, with their conditions reported to be critical according to local sources. This deliberate targeting of civilian areas by military council forces has caused significant fear and anxiety among local residents. The military’s continued attacks on civilian populations demonstrate a pattern of intentional violence against non-combatants.
Meanwhile, in Mandalay Region’s Myingyan Township, the military council has been conducting aerial bombing raids using propeller aircraft. Starting from 11:01 PM on August 15, an aircraft from Meiktila Air Base dropped five bombs on villages south of Myingyan. While no casualties were reported from these aerial attacks, local residents have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer locations.
Local sources report that villages in the Thaung Tha and Myingyan areas are being subjected to nightly aerial bombardments by military council aircraft, making it impossible for villagers to safely remain in their homes during the night. Residents are now routinely evacuating their villages each evening to avoid potential casualties from these attacks. These ongoing military operations have severely disrupted civilian life in the region, forcing people to abandon their homes and normal daily activities due to the constant threat of military violence. The systematic nature of these attacks has created a humanitarian crisis as civilians struggle to maintain their safety and livelihoods under the constant threat of military aggression.
