
On August 15, the Shwe Yay Kyun Strike Column led a protest against the military dictatorship in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region. The protesters marched with a victory flag at the forefront, with local residents joining the demonstration. Anti-coup movements within Yinmabin Township have been ongoing since February 2021 until the present day. Despite the military council’s oppression, violence against civilians, and arrests, people continue to conduct peaceful protests without stopping. In today’s protest by the Shwe Yay Kyun Strike Column, demonstrators demanded the immediate fall of the military dictatorship, the release of political prisoners, and the establishment of a genuine federal democratic system.
Protesters carried signs showing support for the National Unity Government (NUG) and People’s Defense Forces (PDF). The demonstration was successfully held despite the challenges faced by local residents under military council oppression, including economic hardships and security concerns.
