People’s Defense Forces successfully conducted a drone strike on a military outpost in Gwepintaw village, Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in military casualties. The attack took place on the evening of August 13, targeting a military camp stationed at the village monastery with approximately 100 troops. The operation involved dropping a 10-kilogram bomb via drone on the military position.
The joint operation was carried out by the Kyaukse District Drone Unit 1844, Myingyan District Battalion 3, Aung Thapyay Allied Forces, and Spring Youth People’s Defense Force. In retaliation, the following day, military forces burned down Lethuttaw village. The resistance forces have noted that they must exercise extreme caution during operations as the military council frequently uses civilians as human shields, making it challenging to conduct offensive operations without risking civilian casualties.
Additionally, fighting broke out near Kyaukka village in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, on August 8. The Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF) and allied forces engaged with a military column of approximately 200 troops. The firefight lasted about 30 minutes, resulting in military casualties. The People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. These incidents demonstrate the ongoing resistance against military rule in the Sagaing Region, with local defense forces continuing to conduct strategic operations against military targets while prioritizing civilian safety.
