A revolutionary fighter from the Urban Guerrilla Network has confirmed that the Ward Administration Office in Ward 14 of Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon Region, was attacked with mines during a military council-organized election meeting. The attack occurred at 10 PM on August 14, targeting security forces from both military and police units who were providing security for the ward administrator and other attendees at the election-related meeting. The attackers used high-powered explosive devices in the operation.
According to an urban revolutionary fighter, one military council soldier and two members of the pro-military militia were injured in the attack and were subsequently transported to a hospital. The Urban Guerrilla Network has issued warnings to those working to facilitate the military council’s fraudulent election, urging them to cease their activities immediately. The network emphasized that anyone involved in supporting the military council’s electoral processes would be considered targets.
The military council, led by Min Aung Hlaing, has been oppressing civilians and attempting to organize fraudulent elections to maintain their grip on power. The Urban Guerrilla Network has declared that anyone participating in or supporting these military council activities will be considered enemies of the urban underground resistance forces. The network has issued stern warnings that those who continue to assist in the military council’s election processes without ceasing their activities will face elimination. This incident represents another instance of resistance forces targeting administrative structures that support the military council’s attempts to legitimize their rule through staged elections.
