According to local sources, one civilian was killed as a result of airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council forces on villages in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. On August 12, three military helicopters from the Shan Tut Air Force Base in Meiktila conducted deliberate bombing attacks on the area around Shwe Si Gyi village, dropping three bombs. While fortunately no civilians were injured during this aerial assault, village residents were forced to flee to safety.
Furthermore, around 9 PM on August 13, military council troops stationed at the Steel Factory in Myingyan Township conducted indiscriminate artillery shelling that struck Yone Pin village, resulting in the death of one innocent civilian and seriously wounding another. According to local residents, the military council forces have been conducting daily attacks using both helicopters for airstrikes and heavy artillery, making it impossible for villagers to sleep in their homes at night. Instead, they are forced to flee to safer locations to avoid the constant threat of attacks.
Similarly, on August 11, military council forces conducted aerial attacks on villages in both Thaung Tha and Malun Townships, dropping up to ten bombs from military helicopters. These systematic and targeted attacks by military council forces against civilian populations have severely disrupted daily life for local residents, who now live in constant fear and face ongoing losses of lives, homes, and property. The situation has created an environment of perpetual insecurity and displacement for civilians in these areas, who must constantly remain vigilant and ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice to avoid becoming casualties of the military’s indiscriminate attacks.
