
The People’s Defense Force of Monywa Township has reported that continuous fighting occurred between revolutionary forces and military council troops along the Monywa-Kyaukka road in Sagaing Region from August 8 to 11. According to their statement, the military council suffered 40 soldier casualties and approximately 20 others were injured, including a major and a captain. The initial clash began on August 8 when revolutionary forces attacked a military column of about 150 personnel that had emerged from the Economics University using landmines. When the same military column later attempted to move from the direction of a school in Kyaukka Taung village, resistance forces launched another attack, resulting in seven military casualties.
On August 9, revolutionary forces conducted drone strikes against military troops positioned near the Yenankun intersection and Shwegu Phyu Pagoda. Later that evening around 6 PM, another clash erupted when resistance forces encountered a military column emerging from the east of Thanaungwin village. Fighting continued until around 9 PM near Ywarhtun and Thanaungwin villages. During these engagements, the military received artillery support from both the Economics University and Amata 508 base, while two military helicopters also provided air support.
The following day, August 10, at approximately noon, resistance forces carried out drone strikes against military troops stationed near Shwegu Ni Pagoda. Around 4 PM, another clash occurred when revolutionary forces conducting area clearance operations encountered a military column that had advanced to Kan Gyi curve east of Kyaukka North village. Additional drone strikes were conducted against military personnel near Kyaukka Shwegu Ni Pagoda and a military jammer vehicle near the fire station in Kyaukka North village.
On the final day of continuous fighting, August 11, at around 5 AM, resistance forces launched a mine attack against a military convoy consisting of approximately 120 personnel, two light-armored vehicles, two iron-plated vehicles, and two double cab trucks. During this engagement, two resistance drones were shot down. The military column proceeded to fire heavy weapons at residential areas along the district connection road, resulting in houses being destroyed by fire. As of August 14, the military council maintains a presence of about 400 troops in the area from Monywa to near Shwegu Phyu Pagoda, where they continue to confiscate civilian property and engage in acts of destruction, including arson.
