The People’s Defense Force (PDF) military affairs officer from Pyay District has confirmed that 13 military soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked a military column with mines in Thayetkone Township, Bago Region. On August 11, around 4:30 AM, a military column consisting of approximately 100 soldiers arrived near Thetni Taw village in Thayetkone Township using 7 FAW vehicles. The column then began advancing towards Nwa Nyein Mountain area around 6:30 AM that morning.

During the engagement, 13 military soldiers were killed and many others were wounded, while the revolutionary forces were able to successfully withdraw without any casualties. The military column continues to operate in the vicinity of Yonepintet village, raising the possibility of further clashes in the area.
The PDF military affairs officer has warned that the military troops have been forcibly confiscating vehicles and motorcycles from local civilians and taking people as human shields. Local residents are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling in the area. The PDF has also urged civilians to strictly follow safety guidelines and instructions during the ongoing conflict. The military column’s continued presence near Yonepintet village poses an ongoing threat to civilian safety, with the PDF emphasizing the importance of civilian vigilance and adherence to conflict zone protocols to minimize risk to the local population.
