Local residents report that the military forces have launched an offensive and are burning villages in Nabe Pin and Kyauk Tine of Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region. On August 12 at 6 AM, the military forces initially attacked with two drones, followed by heavy artillery fire before entering the villages. This forced residents from both villages to flee for their lives. The military also burned temporary shelters in the forest where internally displaced persons (IDPs) had been staying after previous military operations and bombing raids in the area.
The military is primarily targeting the northern part of Nabe Pin village with their burning campaign, and local sources indicate that all houses in the northern section are likely to be reduced to ashes. Nabe Pin village contains over 400 households, while Kyauk Tine village is relatively smaller with fewer residences. The intensity of the fires is severe, with burning embers from palm leaf shelters carried by the wind reaching as far as the forest areas where villagers have sought refuge. Local sources confirmed that the military has also arrested five civilians during this operation.
In Ngazun Township, the military has split into multiple columns for what they claim to be clearance operations. Their primary activities involve burning civilian homes and looting valuable possessions, according to local residents. The affected villagers have been forced to flee without even having a chance to eat, and security concerns prevent them from returning to their homes. This systematic destruction of villages and arbitrary arrests by the military continue to devastate the daily lives of local civilians, causing significant disruption to their livelihoods and community structures.
