According to leaked confidential military documents, India-based Astra Microwave Products Ltd has approached Myanmar’s military air defense forces to sell lightweight radar systems capable of detecting low-altitude flights. The company, in collaboration with Light Head Group Limited Myanmar, plans to manufacture and install Drishti – Low Level Light Weight Radar (LLLWR) systems that can effectively detect drones, helicopters, and other small aircraft flying at low altitudes.
Four representatives from the Indian company are scheduled to visit the military council’s Directorate of Procurement in Naypyidaw on August 11 to present their radar systems. This initiative comes as the military council seeks to defend against the increasing use of combat drones in the ongoing civil conflict. The military council has been experiencing losses due to drone attacks by People’s Defense Forces, prompting their interest in acquiring these radar systems.
The radar systems produced by the Indian company are capable of real-time detection of any low-flying targets, accurately calculating their altitude, size, direction, and speed. Additionally, the radar systems are designed to be easily installed on the ground and are portable, making them particularly useful for military council forces. The company’s proposal emphasizes the systems’ effectiveness in detecting and tracking small aerial targets, which has become increasingly important in modern warfare scenarios.
