The terrorist military forces conducted airstrikes and artillery attacks on two villages in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, resulting in the death of seven civilians including a 10-year-old child, according to a representative from the Yesagyo Township Info Committee. The attacks began on the morning of August 9, targeting Taung Oo village and Kyatsu Kyin village using aircraft, helicopter gunships, and heavy artillery.
During the assault, the military conducted two aerial bombing raids and fired howitzer artillery twice from the Phulone army base. In the afternoon, two helicopter gunships from the Pakokku Division 101 launched additional attacks. These coordinated strikes resulted in the deaths of seven civilians, including a child and elderly residents, with numerous others sustaining injuries. The attacks also caused significant destruction to civilian homes, which were burned down during the military operation.
In a similar incident on August 4, military forces stationed at the municipal park in Yesagyo town fired howitzer artillery, resulting in the death of a 2-year-old child from Phyonbwe village who was struck by shrapnel. Local sources indicate that the military has been deliberately targeting civilian areas, with children and elderly residents particularly vulnerable to these indiscriminate attacks. The military’s continued use of heavy weapons and airstrikes in civilian areas demonstrates a pattern of violence against non-combatant populations in the region.
