
On August 8, a public protest march was held in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising and to demonstrate opposition to the military dictatorship and their illegitimate election plans. The people of Hpakant united in protest to show their resistance against the military regime and reject the illegal election being planned by the military council.
The protesters called for all people to unite in the ongoing struggle to completely uproot the military dictatorship that has persisted through different eras. They urged citizens across the country to participate in whatever way they can until the Spring Revolution succeeds, while also encouraging people not to participate in the illegal election being organized by the military group.
This demonstration is part of the nationwide anti-military dictatorship movement and represents the public voice against the military’s violence and oppression. Despite the risks, the people of Hpakant Township continue their struggle with strong determination for the end of military dictatorship and the restoration of democracy. The protesters emphasized the importance of unity among all citizens in their shared mission to dismantle the military regime’s grip on power and establish genuine democratic governance in Myanmar.
