
The children, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters of Min Aung Hlaing have expressed their condolences over the death of Myint Swe, who served as a representative of the military council, according to military-controlled newspapers on August 8. The statement of condolence came from Min Aung Hlaing’s daughter Khin Thiri Thet Mon, son Aung Pyae Sone, daughter-in-law Myo Yadanar Htaik, and five granddaughters. Aung Pyae Sone and Myo Yadanar Htaik have three daughters: their eldest Chit Poe (also known as Khin Nyein Chan Pyae Sone Hlaing), Khin Bone Myat Pyae Sone Hlaing (also known as Shwe Poe), and their youngest daughter Mya Poe. Khin Thiri Thet Mon has two daughters: Ei Poe (also known as Eikari Thet Mon Hlaing) and May Poe (also known as May Barany Thet Mon Hlaing).
The funeral ceremony for Myint Swe will be held on August 11, including a procession of his body through Naypyidaw and ceremonial honors. The military council has formed a main committee and 11 working committees for the funeral arrangements and has already held funeral planning meetings. Foreign embassies, consulates, and both domestic and international organizations in Myanmar will be invited to the funeral ceremony. The body will be transported from Naypyidaw Military Hospital No. 2 to the military cemetery, with the family announcing that the funeral procession will take place at 1:30 PM on August 11.
The military council has declared a five-day mourning period from August 7 to August 11, during which military flags are to be flown at half-mast. Myint Swe, who was 75 years old, passed away on August 7 while receiving medical treatment for decreased mobility, poor nutritional intake, and Parkinson’s disease-related neurological weakness.
