A spokesperson from the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA) has confirmed that 15 military personnel, including two captains, were killed in a clash that occurred in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region on August 5. The battle took place near Military Battalion 407 in Yebyu Township, beginning around 7 AM and lasting approximately one hour. The engagement involved roughly 100 military troops who were attacked by revolutionary forces while departing from their battalion headquarters.
During the battle, 15 military personnel, including two captains, were killed, and many others were wounded on the military side. Revolutionary forces reported only minor, non-life-threatening injuries to some of their members. The attack was carried out through a joint operation involving multiple resistance groups, including the Dawei National Liberation Army’s (DNLA) Duraka column, the Tavoy People Liberation Force (TPLF), the Black Tiger Force, and the Bilone Guerrilla Force. The resistance forces conducted an ambush operation targeting the military column as it was leaving Battalion 407.
Given the current escalation of military operations across the country, revolutionary forces have issued warnings to local civilians to exercise extreme caution in their daily movements. They specifically emphasized the need to be vigilant about potential military airstrikes and urged people to follow air raid defense guidelines. Additionally, as the revolutionary momentum continues to build, the DNLA has extended an invitation to military personnel and police force members who wish to side with the people, encouraging them to defect to the public’s side as soon as possible. The resistance forces continue to maintain their strategic positions while prioritizing civilian safety in their operations against the military council’s forces.
