On August 4 in Yangon, the Shwepyithar Strike Committee (SPTSC) conducted a protest movement against the military council’s airstrikes on civilian populations. The campaign included placing protest banners on YBS bus lines and the elevated bridge, demanding an end to the military council’s airstrikes which they have been conducting under the pretext of earthquake relief operations.
The Shwepyithar Strike Committee urged the international community to be particularly vigilant about humanitarian aid provisions, warning that the military council has been misappropriating these funds to purchase weapons and suppress the civilian population. They exposed how the military council has been deliberately targeting civilian lives and properties, resulting in continuous casualties and injuries among innocent civilians.
This movement aimed to draw greater global attention to the military council’s ongoing violence across Myanmar and to prompt more effective international action. Through this campaign, they also highlighted how the military council has been misusing international aid and preventing it from reaching the civilian population who truly need it. The demonstration emphasized the urgent need for accountability and proper monitoring of humanitarian assistance to ensure it serves its intended purpose of helping the Myanmar people rather than enabling further oppression by the military council.
