On July 31st in Yangon, Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) Chairman Khin Yi met with artists who have consistently supported the military. The meeting was attended by actors Nay Aung, Yan Aung, Soe Myat Thu Zar, comedian Moe Di, Tain Nyunt, Nget Pyaw Kyaw and other artists. Khin Yi disclosed details of this meeting through his Telegram channel.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the history and formation of the USDP party, ensuring successful implementation of the upcoming election, and voters’ freedom to support organizations of their choice. Khin Yi described the meeting as an informal gathering based on existing relationships, stating that they had a pleasant morning of open discussions despite having no specific agenda. The party chairman emphasized the casual and cordial nature of their interactions.
According to internal USDP sources, the party has strategically planned to utilize these artists’ public influence and image for their electoral victory in the upcoming December elections. The meeting with military-supporting artists was reportedly part of this strategy, with plans to engage these artists in campaign activities during the election period. The party aims to leverage the artists’ public platforms and existing support for the military to advance their electoral prospects.
