A representative from the Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Force (Chauk) has confirmed that there were casualties among military council forces during clashes with People’s Defense Forces in the Thanaung area of Salin Township, Magway Region. On July 30, joint People’s Defense Forces engaged military council troops, estimated at around 150 personnel, who were advancing from the direction of Thanaung village in Salin Township. The resistance forces used heavy weapons and drones to attack the military column near Thanaung village and Taungphila village.
During the battle, military council forces initially opened fire with heavy weapons followed by small arms as they attempted to advance. The joint People’s Defense Forces responded with 81mm and 60mm heavy weapons, forcing the military troops to retreat to the Thanaung power station. While there were confirmed casualties on the military council side, with two ambulances seen transporting the wounded toward Seikphyu, the exact number of casualties could not be immediately verified. The successful defensive operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups including the Thakhin Phoe Hla Gyi Force (Chauk), Pakokku District Battalion 4, Units 1/2, the Thein Nget Nay Drone Force, Salin PDF Zone 3, and allied forces.
The People’s Defense Forces reported no casualties on their side during the engagement. In anticipation of intensified fighting in the coming period, the resistance forces have appealed to the public for support in acquiring necessary weapons and ammunition to continue their defensive operations. This incident represents another significant clash between resistance forces and military council troops in the ongoing conflict, demonstrating the continued resistance against the military council’s operations in the region.
